Garbage picked beauties!

My garbage picking days have really been good to me-
There's nothing better than great and especially free furniture
It makes my heart sing!!

Remember back,  a long year ago I snagged these
Curb side lovelies on Easter morn-

My sister's wonderful neighbor, Megan
( you remember this) had decided the table and chair set
Had seen better days so-
What's a garbage picker to do but
Score!!

They looked like this when they were sitting all forlorn on the curb

So it was time for some jazzing up!!

After sanding the tabletop-

It was ready for a primer-
I use Kilz - it always serves me well, then the painting began
The tabletop was in rough shape but a thorough sanding and
Behr's black semi gloss cleaned it up perfectly!

A final coat of clear wax and it's good to go!

The set of six chairs were in pretty good shape-
cleaned them up and gave them a light coat of Rustoleum in classic black
a simple coat of clear wax gives them a bit of protection-

Like the new fabric?

Can't wait  see these in their new space!

Saturday's the big day so I'll be sure to snap some pics of her new pad!
Stay tuned for more!!

Take care, gotta fly-

New desk chair, again...

This past summer I scored an adorable chair with a rush seat-
I loved it-
especially for the price-

So, I decided I would use it as a desk chair in my kitchen-

After a week, I knew it needed a kick-
so it went from a natural wood,
to a match with the kitchen hutch-
(sorry my pic flew into bloggyspace!)

I loved it even more...

Fast forward 2 months...
sadly, the chair did not fare well-
turned out
it was uncomfortable,
unfortunately,
so-
back to Club GW
to locate a new chair
and that I did-
for a cool .99cents!!

Can you believe it?
Wiped off the grime,
painted it white
and
recovered the seat

 with a $6 remnant
 from JoAnn's-
The result..

brand new(to me!)
comfy desk chair for
$6.99!!

The new kitchen look!

I've been dying to paint my kitchen set-
love the round table-
love the look of the chairs-
(well, not really but...)
 just not their weight-
-way too heavy-
So, as I've shown you before,
I've been scoring some great chairs at Club GW-

I was going to paint them white
because the table blended into the floor
which also blended into the chairs-
one big blending-

I painted the table-2 coats worth
each chair also got 2-

when I was done-
I realized it wasn't doing it for me-
Blah

My whole plan changed
and
today I repainted the table
 and six chairs
the same color as the hutch
No more blah-

LOVE IT

Have you ever made a mistake with color
and been so bummed
because of the time you ( wasted) spent?

The chairs from Club GW-
before....during...after...

But, I'm a happy camper now!
The fabric I recovered the chairs with,
match the trim on the curtains-

Love the new color-
it really perks up the space
and
perks me up too!
The best laid plans don't always pan out
but, I must say in this case-
love the new found plan!!

Kitchen chairs

I've had these chairs at my kitchen table for years-
I loved the look
but they are really heavy and not comfortable!

What's a girl to do?

Over the past few months,
I have scored some chairs to replace my current ones-

some have a padded seat
which I think will add to the comfort-

I have a plan
 but as we know,
the best laid plans....
so fingers crossed-
I'll be back to show you the finished product,
soon!!

So, take care, gotta fly- Claire

(ps.. I got busy, changed my mind after painting two coats of one color
and I can't wait to show you the finished product!)
