Easter 2011- better late than never!

The big bunny day has finally arrived-(IT'S OVER)
eggs, tulips, candy, stuffed bunnies, peeps, lambs and chicks
The sun shining, lush rolling green lawns,
candy filled eggs tucked into shrubbery, nestled between branches-
waiting, just waiting-
to be found!

THE HUNT IS ON!

On your mark, get set-
GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Easter from our family to yours!!

Sick of being sick

As I write this, I realize how much I have missed my day to day blog fun-
I continue to recuperate from my week and half long ills-
turns out it was a dental abscess, hiding away-just sending up painful bullets daily-
finally it began to break free and the docs finally believed everything I had been saying!!
So, when I'm vicodin free, I will be back-
I am starting to catch up on my favorite blog reading-
keep me laughing and inspired as always

I'm Smiling

Kristina is featuring me as her Smiley Blogger this week!!

First off, smile with me :) You made it through another week and deserve a big smile. You've got the whole weekend ahead of you so make it a good one! This week's featured Smiley Hopper is Claire from Bless My Nest!!
I asked Claire a few questions about herself and her blog so you could get to know a little bit about her.
 1) When did you first start blogging? Why? I began my own blog in Sept 2010 after blog stalking for nearly a year!!
2) What's your favorite part about blog hopping? I just love meeting new bloggers and the creativity out in bloggyville really blows my mind-I can't believe what I see everyday!
3) What's your favorite hobby My favorite hobby is home decorating-I'd love it to be my real job too!! 4) Who's your role model? Well, I have a few- my mom was my first-raising 5 kids and always seeming to keep it together is quite a task as a mom myself. I always admired the craftier women on TV-Kitty Bartholomew was one of the 1st woman I adored to watch on craft shows and lastly there are two bloggers that I can't get enough of - one is the Nester-she writes with true humor and her down to earth lifestyle makes me chuckle everytime I read her blog and the other is Thrifty Decor Chick-she makes everything happen in real time and with reality and humor, along the way!
How it Works * Follow Me and the Smiley Hopper of the week! (Spots 1 & 2) Leave us a comment with your blog url so that we can follow you back * Grab the Smile With Me Saturday button then post on your blog to give your new followers a place to comment * Add your blog to the list- (NOT YOUR BLOG HOP or GIVEAWAYS PLEASE) These entries will be deleted. * Follow as many blogs as you would like, Make sure you leave them a comment so they know you stopped by. Then Follow Back everyone that follows you & comments. You can link your blog every Saturday at 12am EST. Have fun!!

Spring Break breaks

I was so looking forward to spring break-
with my kids grown it was going to be a week of fun
and games and crafts and blogging....
I went into the weekend with a slight ache in my jaw
that I attributed to a good 'ole sinus infection-

I decided to try my chiropractor because friends swear by the results they get-
Monday was the chiropractor-
during the lovely Seder dinner my sister hosted for her husband, that night-
the swelling increased-
I was looking like a lopsided chipmunk-
Unfortunately, the swelling continued and nothing over the counter was touching the pain-
Sadly, I landed myself in the ER, much to my horror-
After blood work, ct scan and lots of pain meds in an IV-
I was diagnosed with a salivary gland infection-
I was sent home with antibiotics and pain killers
YEA-I was gonna be better- they also told me to see an ENT specialist the next day
-should that have been the giveaway that all was not right with my swollen "big" jaw-

My daughter was a godsend-
she busily made the appointments, and drove me to all of them-
putting her classes and work on hold to take care of me-

The ENT specialist took one look at the ct scan and blood results and said the problem is in your teeth-
make an appt with your dentist-ASAP-I didn't know if this was possible-
not to be melodramatic but I was weak, in pain and wanted to crawl in a hole-
My amazing daughter made the appt. for that afternoon, helped me there, did all the talking-
After many x-rays- A fractured molar was located  in the back of my lower jaw
ALLELUIA-an answer had possibly been found-
the oral surgeon happened to be there and within a 1/2hour, the tooth was pulled-
The swelling and pain are still there but it has certainly lessened, a great deal-
For me to be able to sit and write this- is a miracle-
So I may not be blogging regularly for the rest of this week while I recover-
but I want to wish all of you a wonderful holiday season!
Take care- gotta fly Claire

Spring is in the air!

Dragonflies are a sure sign of spring
with summer peeking around the corner-

They are so popular in home decor, jewelry,
fashion, fabrics, garden chotchkes-
I have a silver marcasite dragonfly pin that
always adds a touch of jolly to my jackets-

So, when I spied this wall medallion at the Christmas Tree Shoppe- it belonged to me- not only because I love dragonflies-
 it's a replica of a wall medallion
I've seen in Ballard's home decor magazine-

Now, this is what it looks like
Set of 3 Entomology Plaques
in the fancy smancy magazine-
the plaques come in bronze or cream
I chose the cream-
can't wait to put it in my porch!
I'm linking up to Knock it off

Goodwill #5

Yesterday, I hit the Goodwill Outlet Center in town
It's different from the regular Goodwill-
they weigh the purchase in bulk but,
the furniture is priced and it's pretty darn cheap!
I picked up this little round table,
made of fauxhogany for $4.99-
This mirror I picked up at a place called Savers-
It benefits the girls and boys clubs of Connecticut
and I may just chalkboard it to death-
it looks like it would make an extremely elegant one
to boot, all for a whopping $14.99!

I'll let you know what I decide to do
 but in the meantime,
take care-gotta fly-Claire

Gardens...take me away!!

I am itchy-
really itchy-

to start gardening!

The putzing(sp) in the gardens
 makes me a happy camper!

Dirt in my nails

and a smile on my face!
Then I get the gardening catalogs
with all the cute gardening tchotchkes-
My heart goes pitter patter
 I can't wait!!
Can you?

Well, take care-
gotta fly -Claire

Easter Egg Embellishments

There are so many "egg"ceptional ideas in bloggyville-
The Easter crafts have been so creative-
I bought a cheap bag of plastic eggs with no ideas-
Puffy paint came to mind on a stroll through JoAnn's-
Lots of dots and stripes-
so far, this is what it looks like-
Next, the spray paint all over the eggs and puff paint
Trying to eliminate the pastels-
going with a tone on tone look!

A styrofoam ball became the base and I started to glue

So far, so good!
Now, to fill in the empty spots
where the ugly syrofoam peaks through-
instead of the usual filler I use-
I spyed some shredded paper used in gift baskets and bags
It was cream colored so it coordinated well with the eggs!
Here is the final product-

I love it-
The monochromatic coloration is exactly what I was looking for-lol
sounds like I'm creating a richly enveloped room
with the same colors but different textures-haha
It's plastic eggs-people!!!!!!!!

So...
What do you think?

Goodwill #4

My last couple of GW trips have not fulfilled the thrifting urge,
if you know what I mean, but..
I never leave empty handed-
it's not in my nature!!  lol

I found these cute little things
and I haven't changed them at all-
which shocks even me!
The blue wooden pedestal bowl looks like it was made for my home-the color is a perfect match!
You know my obsession with hydrangeas-
these metal corkscrews have a flower stuck into their center!
I really have no idea what they were once used for but,
they are hanging out on my mantel looking fine!!
I do love them- and the best part-
I'm not changing anything about them!

So, this trip was a bigger success than I first thought-
For a total of $6 - I found some beauties!!
See you next Saturday for
my next trip to Goodwill!
