St. Baldrick's 2012

The St. Baldrick's Fundraiser
                                                 Mission Statement
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.

For the past 4 years, my town has participated in the St. Baldrick's event-
every elementary school forms a team and children sign up to shave their heads to help other kids with cancer.  My school had 58 participants this year-both boys and girls.  My 10 year old nephew, Patrick, was determined to become a shavee.  He told his mom he had to do it for Poppy.  Poppy is my dad who died of cancer 20 years ago this past January.  Although Patrick never met him, he has heard wonderful stories about him over the years.  He also feels a special connection because he was born on my dad's birthday.

Patrick and his beaming Nana
He is a great little boy, always thinking of others
but this event really opened our eyes
to the true size of his heart!
We are so proud of your kindness Patrick!

Take care, gotta fly-
