Where have all the fabric stores gone?

Lately, I've been into making pillows
ruffled, rosettes,toile,silk, burlap with bees!
I'm always trolling the fabric stores-whoops-I mean store-
Have you seen a decrease of fabric stores in your area??
I'm so sad -we had some fab fabric stores in some surrounding towns and -
all gone
Joann's is the only one in town-literally!
I've ordered fabric online and luckily it's all worked out fine-
you buy a swatch to match it up at home
and then the online store credits you
when you place your actual order-

But,
I miss the touch,
the feel of the fabric between my fingers-
touching the computer screen doesn't feel the same!
Just thought I'd share my thoughts with my online therapists!!
Have a great day-
Gotta fly-Claire

  1. YES!!! We have only a JoAnns and I have also resorted to online ordering. It is like getting a magazine subscription via the internet...just not the same as curling up on the couch with your magazine. I want to touch it....yes I need therapy for my fabric addiction, but I love rubbing it between my fingers! That is a crucial part of deciding if I want it or not! :)

    Your not alone!

  2. Makes me crazy. JoAnns drove all the smaller stores out of business. I order a lot online now. We do have a Calico Corners nearby, which is more upholstery-oriented, and expensive, but they have wonderful stuff.

  3. Wow, that is so unfortunate. We do have a few fabric stores where I am, but they have so many outdated fabrics. Still, it really is better than none. Thanks for the comment and follow, I am now your newest follower!

  4. I agree. I love the feel and smell of fabric. I want to absorb all my choices at one time. I can spend hours in a fabric store. We have Hancock's, Jo Ann's and Hobby Lobby has some fabric. It's not enough.
