Pins

Pinning is one of my favorite pastimes -
What did we ever do before Pinterest?

I'm always jumping on to check out new and creative ways to style a room, holiday craft ideas, maybe a new recipe ( my family doesn't realize this last one- I said pin not cook the recipes!)

I am loving the new updates on Pinterest where you can immediately check out
the website above the picture-
So handy!

I added 2 new boards to my virtual pin board-
A Blue and White board, that includes home decor and beautifully styled rooms-
I also added a board of mirrors-
Nothing in a room sings to me as much as a fabulous mirror-
I especially love the handmade ones and the Goodwill finds that are refashioned!

So, if you get a chance, check out my 2 new boards
for some inspiring pins for your home decor-
And be careful, it's an addiction!!

Take care, gotta fly

A little change

My living room is my favorite spot-

For years, I've had a wooden bookcase in one corner-
It's been fine and I've tried many vignettes
to add warmth to the space-
I even attempted a big makeover with mirrors at one point-
a little reflection never hurt anyone!

But, the time has come to say goodbye bookcase-

Yesterday, we moved a small china cabinet from
my mom's house into the space-
It's got a light and no china will grace it's shelves-

Of course, I have already set it up-
what's a girl to do with a "new" piece of furniture!

Make it feel welcome of course-

I may change it up down the road-
a little paint never hurt anything, right?

But, for now, it sits proudly in a coveted spot-
all I can think of is my mom when I look at it-
she didn't love it but it worked in her home for 45 years-
so, it will now work in mine!

Over the next few weeks I will be adding more of "mom's things" to our home- little pieces that warm my heart and remind me of her beauty and spirit-

It's all about the sentiment...

Take care, gotta fly-

Wedding Afterglow

So, the wedding is over-
But, the afterglow remains and the love from the day lingers throughout our home

All the gorgeous flowers in my mom's china pots fill my living room with the scents of happiness-

It was a beautiful day, with a beaming bride and groom-
The weather was perfect - on a normally hot sticky August forecast in the northeast- we were blessed with temps that were comfortable. The sun as well as the moon glowed throughout-
The rehearsal night was lovely-

And the wedding day was spectacular-

The pictures tell the story-

Beautiful day, beautiful memories, beautiful love-
Until next time-

3 days and counting....

So, the big day is fast approaching- little last minute things are complete!
Thank goodness this engagement period hasn't been too long- Second guessing is my specialty and if we had more time.. Yikes- who knows what I'd be up to!!

Yesterday, I was reading my husband's toast to the new couple-
Oh my- tears were flowing and I must say, I was an emotional wreck-😭

I've been really enjoying the stroll down memory lane and if you follow me on Facebook, you know I've been adding a daily picture- counting down to this special day!
Here are some favorites-

Hard to believe that 30 years have flown by and now my little princess is a grown woman-💘

Thanks for indulging a weepy mom-
See you after her big day!!

Take care, gotta fly-

Wedding Days

Our daughter's wedding is fast approaching and these days it's very easy to get overly sentimental ( if you possibly can)!!  We were listening to songs she had chosen for the ceremony and some of the "crazy" music for the reception the other night.

She had made the majority of the decisions but of course, we women like to second guess ourselves all the time- so, once again, we listened to the music for her father- daughter dance- I had always loved the song she had chosen but suddenly, we listened to a beautiful country ballad and I burst into tears- each verse rang so close to my heart and I usually don't tear up to many songs- I started bawling and I glanced at her and she was crying too!  You know that moment when you just know it's right-

We've had an emotional year with beautiful ups and some very sad downs- my mom won't be at the wedding in body, but her beautiful spirit will envelop every part of the day- she was a woman of strength, beauty and wisdom- she taught all of us to be kind, thoughtful and most importantly, to love each other.

As the days draw nearer to Kerry and Scott's wedding,  I feel her prescence  in each decision made- each special touch to personalize this day with many of her things.  Both sets of her grandparents will be with her that day- miniature charms of them on their wedding days will adorn her bouquet, the overflowing center pieces will be arranged in my mom's blue and white china vases and Kerry will also carry a white embroidered shamrock hankie of Grandma's.  They will be there to celebrate this family filled occasion - helping all of us celebrate this wonderful day!

The day in pictures will be part of my blog, but not until after August 16th! Don't want to give away any secrets!!  But, I'll leave you with this picture of Kerry with her dad, many moons ago- so very special this time is!

Take care, gotta run-
