Simplify the holiday

Every year, I get all a twitter about the approaching holiday season
Nothing makes me happier-
All the fun,
 all the family
all the activities,
the traditions,
the joy
and
 the crazy!!
But, I get tired.
I have to admit
 that I'm not 25 anymore
(I can't believe that either, can you?)
So, this year will be different
All the fun,
the family,
the activities,
 the traditions,
 the joy
 and
 only a little crazy!!

My word for this holiday season is
 Simplify
You heard me right?
I mean it
I will sit more to enjoy more..
No 7 trees will go up this year!
My one tree will be beautiful-
I will decorate the daylights out of it
  and I will Love it!
So you heard it here first
One tree!
There I said it-
Omg and I mean it!
Can't wait to share it-
And I can't wait to sit back
 and enjoy all of yours!
SIMPLIFY THE SEASON
  That's my goal for 2011!

Well, take care, gotta fly- Claire

Christmasfying my wreath!

Last year, I made my favorite coffee filter wreath-
like everyone else in bloggyville!!
!

I loved it so much,
I have kept it up all year-

Now that the holidays are upon us,
I decided to dress it up abit
and add a little holiday cheer!

I made a poinsettia flower
with leftover embossed wallpaper-

glued it together-added some berry balls-
threw a festive red plaid ribbon on it
and
voila'!!

A pretty Christmas wreath
 for no moola!!

So cute-
love to reuse and recycle-
makes me feel green
 to begin this holiday season-lol!!!

Take care, gotta fly- Claire

Thankfulness

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year-
family time,
traditions-
extended family get togethers
yummy food
laughter
football
crisp air
crisp turkey
but
the most important thing is
truly
being thankful...
I am so very thankful everyday..
and it's really all about family

Although we have lost
some of our most special family members
over the years-
the wonderful memories stay with us forever-
and
although sadness of missing them is always there-
we know that our family remains a special place to be-
always and forever!

Wishing all of you a thankful and family filled season-

Take care, gotta fly -Claire

New desk chair, again...

This past summer I scored an adorable chair with a rush seat-
I loved it-
especially for the price-

So, I decided I would use it as a desk chair in my kitchen-

After a week, I knew it needed a kick-
so it went from a natural wood,
to a match with the kitchen hutch-
(sorry my pic flew into bloggyspace!)

I loved it even more...

Fast forward 2 months...
sadly, the chair did not fare well-
turned out
it was uncomfortable,
unfortunately,
so-
back to Club GW
to locate a new chair
and that I did-
for a cool .99cents!!

Can you believe it?
Wiped off the grime,
painted it white
and
recovered the seat

 with a $6 remnant
 from JoAnn's-
The result..

brand new(to me!)
comfy desk chair for
$6.99!!

Favorites from this week!

With my recent computer glitch,
I was unable to showcase
my favorites from last week-

Aimee from The Twigg Studio
 created this amazing rosette wreath
using none other than newspapers-
The roses actually look fluffy!
Check out her amazing tutorial!!

created this  "oolala" french inspired table
Oolala I love it!!

                               Mimi, from blue roof cabin
designed this plate rack cabinet -
you've got to check out her tutorial!

Penny from Flea Market Makeovers
created this chic
frenchy chandelier with an
old brass light and rooster teapot-
A big wow!!

I lost a few more
of my favorites
 when my computer died-
hope to find them soon!

Hope you enjoy these fab projects!!

GW table redo

This table was one of my many finds
this summer from the Club GW outlet-
It was painted already
but the grime was in its creases-
(if you know what I mean!)
I gave it a quick spray of white satin
and she sat in my garage until now-

She looked like the perfect candidate
for my new chalk paint
(Annie Sloan that is!)

Her lovely shaped legs and
her carved shoulders were aching
for a painting!
and that's what she got....

The first coat of Pure White went on as smooth as butter-
Greek Blue was slathered on next-
what a color!!

It was finished off with Paris Grey-wow!

Now, the fun began-
The sanding and sanding and sanding

You were telling the truth about it-
It sands off very easily,
distressing in all the right places...

Did you see my little surprise?

I just couldn't resist!!

Well, take care, gotta fly- Claire

A big mess!

Sorry about my last post-
My laptop took a nosedive mid post
so today I got to shop for a new one-
It's shocking to me what these computer wizzes have to say-
A laptop won't last more than 3-4 years...
What???????

It was going to cost me more to get it fixed than to buy a new one-
Let me just say-
there is something awfully wrong with this-
Are they made of cardboard?

Crazy world we live in!
Just sayin'....

Gotta fly- Claire

The new kitchen look!

I've been dying to paint my kitchen set-
love the round table-
love the look of the chairs-
(well, not really but...)
 just not their weight-
-way too heavy-
So, as I've shown you before,
I've been scoring some great chairs at Club GW-

I was going to paint them white
because the table blended into the floor
which also blended into the chairs-
one big blending-

I painted the table-2 coats worth
each chair also got 2-

when I was done-
I realized it wasn't doing it for me-
Blah

My whole plan changed
and
today I repainted the table
 and six chairs
the same color as the hutch
No more blah-

LOVE IT

Have you ever made a mistake with color
and been so bummed
because of the time you ( wasted) spent?

The chairs from Club GW-
before....during...after...

But, I'm a happy camper now!
The fabric I recovered the chairs with,
match the trim on the curtains-

Love the new color-
it really perks up the space
and
perks me up too!
The best laid plans don't always pan out
but, I must say in this case-
love the new found plan!!
