Painting Palooza

I have been painting like it's my job-
well, technically,
I guess it is-lol!

Anywhoooo, I painted my staircase walls,
then on to the upstairs hallway-
 2 coats mind you-
I used Behr's new paint plus primer combo -

color
It's my new fav !

Then, I kept going.
I moved into my tiny vestibule that was stenciled with stars from many moons ago-
It wasn't that I hated it, just so tired
of looking at it these past 12 years-
so
it had to go too!

Now,
I have a beautiful fresh and clean slate to work with.
Some may call it boring, but I call it heaven!
A brand new breath of fresh air-just in time for spring!
I have many moulding ideas swimming in my head
but, for now,
I'm just going to love my dreamy, creamy walls!
Well,take care,

Thanks for the feature!

Thanks to Bella Before and After for featuring my black gingham double ruffled mirror.  I'm thrilled and tickled to death!!

Cork board

I have always wanted an inspiration board- you know, a cork board but prettier, maybe in a frame, so I finally got around to making one for my kitchen.  I bought a 16 x 20 frame- unfortunately, I haven't found one big enough at GW!  I then bought a roll of cork.  It's thin but it's a pretty big roll -2 feet x 4 feet, so I'll be able to make some other things with the leftover.  All I did was empty the glass from the frame, and measured the opening , so the cork fits snugly into the frame!  I used an exacto knife and because the cork was thin, cutting it was not a problem! I actually doubled up the cork so a thumbtack would have something to get ahold of!! I used spray adhesive on the cardboard that came in the frame.  After the spray adhesive got abit more sticky, I pressed the cork onto the cardboard.

It fit perfectly into the frame. I hung it on the kitchen door and voila!!  I finally have my inspiration board.  Once my craft room becomes a reality, this baby will be up there, but for now, it will be in the kitchen where I can play around with all my inspirational pics!!Yahoo!!  Well, take care, gotta fly- Claire

ruffled pillows

(bad picture but it says $5.99)

Well, I don't have to tell you how much I'm loving ruffles!!

My next ruffled adventure was ruffled pillows

that looked like flowers.  I've been looking at

fabrics that coordinate in my living room which is primarily blue

and white.  I looked at patterns, florals, stripes,

damasks, silks and moire' silks.  It was all very pretty

but decisions, decisions.  So, I left the fabric store

empty handed.  Today, I ran down to my favorite el cheapo store,

The Christmas Tree Shoppe!!  I thought I might get inspired or

just find some really good bargains!  Don't you just love a bargain!!

I browsed through all the holiday tchochkes.  St. Patrick's Day,

Easter, and even Memorial Day!! Egads!

Nothing really struck my fancy-I really don't need more junky-

junks for the great vignettes-

Then, I spotted something that tickled my fancy, big time!!!

With a price tag of $5.99, I knew I could never

duplicate these pillows, and at that price, who would want to!!

So, although I didn't SEW these, these are SO great!!

I love my bargains.

Family pictures

I can never have enough family photos on display.  It may be an illness but I am constantly displaying new photos all around my home.  So I came up with a new space to decorate with family photos and it doesn't cost alot of money.  Tabletops, dressers, buffets, side tables-they all have the same thing in common- a flat top.  So, I decided to get a piece of glass cut to cover the top of one of the chests I have in my living room.  The glass wasn't fancy or bevel cut- it was a smidge thicker than glass from a frame and it cost me $28.

I love this display area- and the best part is I can change it up all the time or whenever the mood strikes me!!  I took pictures of my daughters when they made their first communion.  Then, I add pictures around the border of the chest depending on who's in the picture, a change in holiday or even pictures of my daughter's with loved ones who are no longer here.  It's a simple reminder of family, love and memories.  It's certainly a simple enough project for anyone to do and each day when I pass it by, a picture will catch my eye and make me smile.  Nothing can beat that!  Well, take care and I've gotta fly-Claire

Ruffled mirror, part deux!!

So, I have to say,
my white ruffled mirror totally inspired me!

Funny thing is,
 you see,
 I have another mirror
 just like it
in black
 and
 I got itchy fingers.
 You know what that means!!!!

I need to heat up the glue gun
and
start ruffling it up again!!

 I looked through my stash
and this is what I found!!

I decided to try my own suggestion
and
use fabrics
instead of crepe paper!

I cut the fabric into 3 inch strips,

started in a corner with some hot glue and began gathering and scrunching up the fabric.  I began with the black and when that was completely glued to the frame,

I started with the gingham and glued that on top of the black ruffle.  I make two rows of ruffles with the check- really because it was so cute!!

I added a cute, chunky rosette made of black and white toile with a double rose crepe paper center.  This added the final accessory to the dressed up mirror!
Well, off to make more ruffles-
take care-gotta fly-Claire
