The cricut has landed!

I feel as though I have finally arrived in the craft world of 2010 with my brand spanking new CricutExpression tool-oh what was that? There are only 2 days left of 2010 you say! Wow-am I that behind in my creations-I'd better hurry and get going, Huh!??
Oh the things I can make, the things I will do,
If only I had gotten it in blue
The crafts I will cut
when I'm in a rut
the words I will spell
and then show and tell
How happy I am
oh yes sir ee ma'am
I will craft so much
I may even miss lunch(I doubt!)
But you can be rest assured
I will cut out a bird
for Bless My Nest
will never take a rest
so off I go to create
I know I am late
But I will do my best
to keep up with the rest
My cricut expression tool
makes me want to rule and drool!
So, off I will go
running to and fro,
cutting,crafting, cutting some more
I am so happy 'cuz oh I did score!
I got my new toy to play
so I'm here to stay
come back very soon
(much later than noon)
all the ideas and the fun
I may have to run
but have no fear dear
I am in a new career!!!

(you can tell I work with 1st graders!!!!)

Christmas Eve 2010

Christmas Eve-the most wonderful time of the year!! The busiest, craziest, fun-filled jolly ho ho night in our home!  Though our kids are grown, I still get to host this special night-all my little nieces and nephews come to celebrate-get a visit from Santa, eat lots of yummy food and open lots of gifts-yippeeeeee!!It's a magical night as we continue to check Santa's progress on the laptop as well!  When Santa gets to Canada, all the kiddos were quick to get their coats and rush to leave so they'd be tucked in their beds with visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads!  To believe in the magic and spirit of Santa lives on each Christmas Eve in our home and we wouldn't have it any other way!  Hope you enjoyed a glimpse into our holiday eve! Well, gotta fly-Claire

It's beginning to look alot like Tchotcheville!

(Sung to the tune of It's beginning to look alot like Christmas!)

It's beginning to look alot like tchotcheville,
everywhere I go,
From the living room rugs of wrap,
To dining room plates stacked up,
You may need to venture with a map!

It's beginning to look alot like tchotcheville,
everywhere you go,
The glitter from the lights,
Not looking very bright,
photo-House Beautiful
Even the chandeliers they are a fright!

It's beginning to look alot like tchotcheville,
everywhere I turn,
So off to the store I go,
Storage tubs to and fro,
We will start today before I blow!

It's beginning to look alot like tchocheville,
Front door to the back,
Trees will be taken down,
Presents all put away,
Momma will soon start to feel more gay!

It's beginning to look alot like tchotcheville,
ceiling to the floor,
Decorations will be stripped,
Hope nothing will get ripped,
Down to the basement they go, now please don't trip!

Oh, it's beginning to look alot like tchotcheville,
I have certainly had my fill,
Though it's been quite a thrill,
I am getting ready to kill,
so off with all the candles on the sill!

It's beginning to look alot like tchotcheville,
morning, noon and night,
So I'm cleaning with all my might,
Until I can get it right,
Then I will finally be happy with the sight!

It's beginning to look alot like tchotcheville,
Everywhere I turn,
40 days and nights I learn,
Is too long to look at holidays galore
From the ceiling to the floor and even more!

So...tchotcheville will be no more,
Cleaning the ceiling to the floor,
We will fi-na-lly be able to explore

So Christmas has come and gone
The reindeer are off the lawn
And tchotcheville will be no more!!!

The holiday tour of homes continues...

Well, the final countdown to the reason for the season is upon us!  Christmas is one day away and the hustle and bustle is still in full gear!  Last minute things need to be bought or made and the rooms need a final dusting before the holiday guests (aka family) arrive!!  How are you all doing with the last few days until the holly days!!??  I always think I need to run out for those last minute things-you all know the feeling-all the piles are not even-someone needs something a little more special but you know what-this year I'm not running around. Last weekend was it. The crowds at the mall (really the parking lots) were enough to put an end to the race for the finish! So, enough about that!
I am so looking forward to Christmas Eve.  It's always at my house and the five siblings, their spouses, a total of 13 grandchildren (ranging in age from 27 to 18 month old twins!) and my mom, will gather to celebrate together!  Gifts will be exchanged, tunes will be played, Santa will arrive by fire truck (lol) and much food will be enjoyed by all- not much more you can ask for but the warmth and love of family surrounding each other on the most beautiful night of the year!!
So, this will be my last post before the holiday. I started writing this blog in September and I must say that it is one of the most wonderful things I have done for myself.  You are all so very inspiring to me.. The creativity I witness everyday is breathtaking and I feel privileged to be welcomed into your worlds each and every day.  So, as I leave you for a day or two, I'd like to wish each and every one of you a Heartfelt and happy holiday season spent with the ones you love.

Merry Christmas , Happy Holidays, "Tis the Season, Fa la la la la , Ho ho ho, Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noel and Bonne Anee!

Deck the Halls (Greed Version)

(to the tune of "Deck The Halls")

'Tis the season to be greedy!
Fa la la la la, La la la la!

Treat ourselves, forget the needy!
Fa la la la la, La la la la!

Charging gifts with wild abandon!
Fa la la la la, La la la la!

Credit limits not withstandin'!
Fa la la la la, La la la la!

Sing we now the spendthrift's carol!
Fa la la la la, La la la la!

Buying presents by the barrel!
Fa la la la la, La la la la!

Throwing parties, being merry!
Fa la la la la, La la la la!

Till bills come in January!
Fa la la la la, La la la la!

The tenth day of Christmas

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me ten lords a leaping, nine ladies dancing, eight maids a milking, seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying, five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree!
'Twas The Day After Christmas

Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house,
Every creature was hurting -- even the mouse.
The toys were all broken, their batteries dead;
Santa passed out, with some ice on his head.
Wrapping and ribbons just covered the floor, while
Upstairs the family continued to snore.
And I in my T-shirt, new Reeboks and jeans,
Went into the kitchen and started to clean.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the sink to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the curtains, and threw up the sash.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a little white truck, with an oversized mirror.
The driver was smiling, so lively and grand;
The patch on his jacket said "U.S. POSTMAN."
With a handful of bills, he grinned like a fox
Then quickly he stuffed them into our mailbox.
Bill after bill, after bill, they still came.
Whistling and shouting he called them by name:
"Now Dillard's, now Broadway's, now Penny's and Sears
Here's Levitz's and Target's and Mervyn's--all here!!
To the tip or your limit, every store, every mall,
Now chargeaway-chargeaway-chargeaway all!"
He whooped and he whistled as he finished his work.
He filled up the box, and then turned with a jerk.
He sprang to his truck and he drove down the road,
Driving much faster with just half a load.
Then I heard him exclaim with great holiday cheer,
ENJOY WHAT YOU GOT ... YOU'LL BE PAYING ALL YEAR!"

The ninth day of Christmas

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me nine ladies dancing, eight maids a milking, seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying, five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.
A Mom's Night Before Christmas

It was the night before Christmas, when all through the abode
Only one creature was stirring, and she was cleaning the commode.
The children were finally sleeping, all snug in their beds,
While visions of Nintendo and Barbie, flipped through their
heads.
The dad was snoring in front of the TV,
With a half-constructed bicycle on his knee.
So only the mom heard the reindeer hooves clatter,
Which made her sigh, "Now what's the matter?"
With toilet bowl brush still clutched in her hand,
She descended the stairs, and saw the old man.
He was covered with ashes and soot, which fell with a shrug.
"Oh great!!" muttered the mom, "Now I have to clean the rug."
"Ho-Ho-Ho!!" cried Santa, "I'm glad you're awake.
Your gift was especially difficult to make."
"Thanks, Santa, but all I want is some time alone."
"Exactly!!" he chuckled, "I've made you a clone."
"A clone?" she asked, "What good is that?
Run along, Santa. I've no time for chit-chat."
It was the mother's twin.
Same hair, same eyes, same double chin.
"She'll cook, she'll dust, she'll mop every mess.
You'll relax, take it easy, watch the Young and the Restless."
"Fantastic!!" the mom cheered. "My dream come true!
I'll shop. I'll read. I'll sleep a whole night through!"
From the room above, the youngest began to fret.
"Mommy?!? I'm scared, and I'm wet."
The clone replied, "I'm coming, sweetheart."
"Hey," the mom smiled, "She knows her part."
The clone changed the small one, and hummed a tune,
As she bundled the child, in a blanket cocoon.
"You're the best mommy ever. I really love you."
The clone smiled and sighed, "I love you, too."
The mom frowned and said, "Sorry, Santa, no deal.
That's my child's love that she's trying to steal."
Smiling wisely Santa said, "To me it is clear,
Only one loving mother is needed here."
The mom kissed her child, and tucked her into bed.
"Thank you, Santa, for clearing my head.
I sometimes forget it won't be very long,
When they'll be too old, for my cradle-song."
The clock on the mantle began to chime.
Santa whispered to the clone, "It works every time."
With the clone by his side, Santa said, "Good night.
Merry Christmas, Mom. You'll be alright."

The eighth day of Christmas

My true love gave to me eight maids a milking, seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying, five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree!

'Twas The Week Before Christmas (School)
By Joyce Luke

'Twas the week before Christmas and all through the school
Not a pupil was silent, no matter what rule.
The children were busy with paper and paste;
The mess that they made with it couldn't be faced.

The teacher half frantic and almost in tears,
Had just settled down to work with her dears,
When out in the hall there arose such a clatter
up sprang the kids to see what was the matter!

 Away to the door they all flew like a flash;
The one who was leading went down with a crash.
Then what to their wondering eyes did appear
But a green Christmas tree! (To decorate I fear!)

When the teacher saw this, she almost grew sick.
She knew in a moment it must be Old Nick!
She ran to the door (all her efforts were vain)
But she shouted, and stamped, and she called them by name;
"Now Tommy! Now Sandy, Now Judy and Harry! Stop Billy!
Stop Robert! Stop Donny and Sherry!
Now get to your places get away from the hall
Now get away! Get away! Get away all!

As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly
The pupils, pell mell, started scurrying by.
They ran to the blackboard and skipped down the aisle;
Their faces were shining and each had a smile.

First came a basket of popcorn to string -
Then came the Christmas tree (menacing thing).
As the tree was brought in there arose a great shout;
The pupils were merrily romping about.
The state they were in could lead to a riot;
The teacher was sure, if allowed, they would try it.

 Her nerves how they jangled!
Her temples were throbbing!
The rush of her breath sounded almost like sobbing!
 The lines of her face were as fixed as a mask;
It was plain that she didn't feel up to her task.
The look in her eye would have tamed a wild steer,
But the children ignored it; they did every year.

A tear from her eye and a shake of her head
Soon led me to think that she wished she were dead.
She spoke not a word but went straight to her work,
Strung all the popcorn which broke with a jerk.
But at last it was finished and placed on the tree;
Then came the bell and the children were free.

Their shrill little voices soon faded away
And peace was restored at the end of the day.
As she looked at the Christmas tree glistening and tall,
She smiled as she whispered, Merry Christmas to all!

The seventh day of Christmas

My true love gave to me, seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying, five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree!

'Twas The Month After Christmas (Dieting)

Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house, Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse. The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste, At the holiday parties, had gone to my waist. When I got on the scales, there arose such a number! When I walked to the store, (less a walk than a lumber). I'd remember the marvelous, meals I'd prepared; The gravies and sauces, and beef nicely rared, The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese, And the way I'd never said, "No, thank you, please."
As I dressed myself, in my husband's old shirt, And prepared once again, to do battle with dirt, I said to myself, as I only can "You can spend a winter disguised as a man!" So-away with the last, of the sour cream dip, Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip. Every last bit of food, that I like must be banished Till all the additional, ounces have vanished. I won't have a cookie, not even a lick. I'll want only to chew, on a long celery stick. I won't have hot biscuits,, or corn bread, or pie, I'll munch on a carrot, and quietly cry. I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore-
But isn't that what, January is for? Unable to giggle, no longer a riot. Happy New Year to all, and to all a good diet!

The sixth day of Christmas

My true love gave to me, six geese a laying, five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree!

A Cat's 12th day of Christmas!

On the twelfth day of Christmas my human gave to me:

Twelve bags of catnip!
Eleven tarter Pounce treats,
Ten ornaments hanging,
Nine wads of Kleenex,
Eight peacock feathers,
Seven stolen Q-tips,
Six feathered balls,
Five MILK JUG RINGS!
Four munchy house plants,
Three running faucets,
Two fuzzy mousies,
And a hamster in a plastic ball!!
